COLE NOT LEAVING

Ashley Cole has said that the reports about his transfer are just rumours and he is not planning to leave Chelsea. In the last few days, there were speculations that the defender might leave Chelsea to join Paris Saint Germain. Cole’s contract with Chelsea is going to expire next year. Cole said that he is talking with the authorities of Chelsea about the extension of his contract and hopefully, he would sign a new deal with the club pretty soon. As per Cole, he has no reason to leave the Chelsea camp at the moment. He is quite happy playing for Chelsea and he would like to keep playing for the club for many years.

Cole has been playing for Chelsea since the 2006-07 season. He made his debut for Chelsea against Charlton Athletic in September 2006. But, in the second half of the season, he injured his knee badly in a match against Blackburn Rovers. Due to the injury, he had to remain out of the team for nearly two months. He made a comeback in the team towards the end of the season and played in the FA Cup final against Manchester United. Cole’s first goal for Chelsea was against West Ham United in March 2008. The 2010-11 season was fantastic for Cole. He played 38 games for Chelsea in that season and performed brilliantly. He was named as the players’ player of the year in that season. Cole was an unsung hero in Chelsea’s Champions League victory in the last season. In the semi final match against Barcelona, Cole had cleared the shot of one of the Barca strikers towards the end of the match and had prevented the Spanish club from scoring the leveler. He had also played very well in the final match against Bayern Munich.

On being asked about the Champions League Victory in the last season, Cole said that winning the Champions League was a dream moment. He got overwhelmed at that point of time. He was so happy that he didn’t know how to react. As per Cole, it would be amazing if Chelsea defends the Champions League title in the upcoming season.
